The AEMT requires a minimum of one year experience as an EMS provider with a licensed EMS agency or fire department.
Firefighter 1 and 2 prerequisites are listed on our website under the respective program.
All courses require you to attend an orientation session prior to the start of class, these sessions are scheduled at the time of class registration.
You can register for courses directly through the FireMed website. If you need assistance please email us at [email protected]
Current Rates for 2025 are located on our website once you click on the course. All of our courses are a one time fee. There are no separate charges for anything during our courses. The price you see is the price you pay. Please note the tuition does not cover any NREMT or Fire Academy testing fees, these are separate from the FireMed program. We are currently working on establishing a department partnership, offering discounts for departments sending multiple students. Payment plans are available for initial EMT, AEMT, Paramedic (Coming Soon), FF I and II and EMS/FIRE Bundle Courses.
FireMed prioritizes hands-on, in-person training with real-world scenarios. Class schedules vary by program and include day, evening, or weekend options. Some of our continuing education courses offer virtual classes via Zoom/GoogleMeet. Please visit the class section for exact dates, times, and locations.
Courses are held at FireMed’s training locations in New Hampshire including at our HQ in Hampton, NH, at the Allenstown Fire Department and our new location in Manchester, NH. We also have the ability to offer continuing education courses at partner departments during shifts. Clinicals and ride-alongs are arranged with local NH partner departments, hospitals, and ambulance services. The full list of our partners can be found here, we also can arrange partnerships with your department if requested. All clinical time is completed in the state of New Hampshire.
Please reach out to clinical coordinator Kate Meehan at [email protected] and she can work with your department and area hospitals to secure a clinical agreement. Please note, affiliation agreements take time and due to the disconnect between states in New England all clinicals must be done in the state of New Hampshire until further notice.
Students will receive an official FireMed polo as part of their tuition. The FireMed Polo shall be worn during all class times. Clinical/Field time requires the FireMed polo, Black or Blue EMS pants, Black Boots, and your FireMed ID Badge.
Depending on which course the student takes, there are a number of exams they may be eligible to test for upon the completion of the course. All students must successfully complete the course they are registered for. For American Heart Association courses, students will be eligible for the certification that correlates with the course they took. For FF1 and FF2 courses, students will be eligible to sit for the fire academy exam to obtain their ProBoard Fire 1 or Fire 2. For EMT, AEMT and paramedic courses, upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam or state certification exams. For continuing education courses, upon successful completion, all students will receive a certificate of completion for that course.
EMS Certifications/Licensure must be renewed every two years, depending on the credential and state requirements. FireMed offers recertification and continuing education courses to help you stay current.
FireMed connects students and alumni with partner departments and agencies for job opportunities and internships. We also offer assistance with resumes, cover letters and interview preparation.

Our clinical coordinator, Kate Meehan ([email protected]) will work with students to get them ride time at various departments. There may be some work required by the student to confirm ride time and/or meet requirements.
A week prior to your course, you will receive an email from us. In that email, you will see your primary instructor’s name and their email address. If you have any questions/comments/concerns, please reach out to them as a first point of contact.
Begin Documentation or Schedule Opportunity: Start by going to the clinical opportunity where you want to assign a preceptor.
Select Preceptor: Click on the “Select Preceptor” button. A dropdown list will appear with preceptors previously used by your school.
Add New Preceptor (if not listed): If the preceptor you need is not in the dropdown, click the “New” button or the “Search” button next to it.
Enter the preceptor’s first name, last name, and/or email address to search for them in the system.
If they still do not appear, you may have the option to create a new preceptor profile (note: this depends on your course settings and permissions).
Select and Save: Once you find or create the correct preceptor, click the “Select” button next to their name. The chosen preceptor will now display on the information page for that clinical opportunity. Click “Save Changes” to confirm your selection.
Once you’ve created and opened your clinical opportunity, click the patient tab, then add patients and under each patient select the “capstone team lead” skill in the skill drop down menu. Once selected click “successful” and your team lead for that patient has been added.
Here at FireMed, we have an attendance policy. Attendance is mandatory for all classes and lab sessions. We understand illnesses and emergencies come up. We ask that you notify your lead instructor when this happens.
All clinical sites are located on our website. All field rotations shall be at the respective department headquarters unless other arrangements have been made. All hospital rotations originate at the triage desk. Identify yourself as a FireMed student and they will get you moving in the right direction.
Once you have successfully passed all exams and clinical/field requirements we will verify that all of your required documentation is PROPERLY entered into platinum planner and on file. We will then clear you to test with the NREMT. This can take a few days to obtain once you are cleared by FireMed and the roster has been sent to the state of NH. DO NOT CONTACT THE STATE OF NH OR FIREMED THE INSTANT YOU ENTER YOUR FINAL TEAM LEAD IN PLATINUM PLANNER. We clear students every week and we will clear you as long as you have an application with the NREMT under NH ETA FIREMED-0001. Your NREMT application to test will be completed the final week of class and ready once you are cleared by FireMed.
Gone are the days of clock hours for clinical time. While some programs may require a certain amount of clock hours for the EMT and AEMT courses require a certain number of team leads. EMT 5, AEMT 10.
A team lead is leading the call from start to finish under the eyes of a FireMed approved preceptor. Approved team leads may include refusals of care where a chief complaint is voiced, inter-facility transports, and other types of calls where the students make patient contact with a patient that has a chief complaint. If there is no chief complaint then that is NOT a patient contact.
(Plagiarism Policy) Do not attempt to copy and paste items to Platinum Planner. You will receive two warnings. On the third strike you are kicked out of Platinum Planner and may be removed from the FireMed program.
First and foremost, study your medical terminology. No APP in the world can help if you do not know the basics of medical terminology. Next join us for our class on how to take a standardized test. We hold them free of charge. Check the website under the class list for dates and times. Lastly, study your NREMT guide in your FireMed manual. This takes approximately 20 hours to complete, however, is well worth it.
From Eric Trottier, “As the program director I have set this course up to be challenging and you should be overwhelmed for the first few weeks. There is a lot of information being sent your way. I personally, as well as, the FireMed instructors and adjuncts will put forth every effort to see you succeed. Time management is a huge key to success. Do not wait until the last minute to study or start your pharmacology flash cards. Set aside time each day for study. If you are having trouble please reach out to your lead instructor for assistance. Remember you must put in the effort to succeed. We will help you run the race, but you must put on the sneakers.”
At FireMed we have a chain of command. For those of you new to the profession, this is how your requests should flow through our staff. Your lead instructor shall be identified to you during orientation and you will have their contact information. You start with them when you have a class question or issue. They will guide you to the proper staff member should you need further assistance than they can provide. You are always welcome to contact administrative staff should the need arise. Administrative staff contact information is located in your student handbook.
Yes! Three times a year FireMed holds a graduation ceremony for each semester (Winter/Spring, Summer, and Fall). Graduation dates and times will be sent to all graduating students. Ceremonies are held in May, September, and December.
